BIO
In 2010 I started learning Dutch after I studied interior architecture in high school until 2015. Then I followed a one year course for spatial design in 2016.
I couldn't make up my mind for interior architecture or industrial product designer, but everything changed when I did my first internship with PL/NK. They do interior design in wood and steel and custom furniture. After that internship, I knew that I wanted to do something with products design but I was not ready to be a designer yet.
After my graduation as a spatial designer, I started my education at Howest in Kortrijk for industrial product designer.
And after 3 years I came back to PL/NK where I started my journey and did my thesis and internship again but now as a junior designer in 2019-2020.
Professional History
January 2016
Internship as collaborator
I did my internship with PL/NK, they design custom-made furniture
in wood. I was 19 at the time, a young and curious fellow, and still am. Peter De Blieck and Ruth Boute were great inspirations for me and working with them widened my horizon of possibilities.
After the internship, I made up my mind and decided to study industrial product design at Howest Kortrijk
I liked working with my hands, I had some experience with design at high school were I studied interior architecture, but I was at the beginning of something great, I had that feeling like ‘hmmm Nika let’s take our time with this let’s get better at design and come back’.

Student jobs
In those years I worked part-time as a student.

- Door salesman

- Selling Berlin’s boules at the beach
- Volunteer work at Zeekrekel (children's workshops) and circusatelier Woesh
In March 2016, I also did my internship with Pia Burrick, who makes stained glass art.
In January 2020 I graduated as an industrial product designer.
March 2020 - Sep 2021
I was searching for work
In February 2020 Staav offered me a 2 week's employment as a student shop collaborator, I wanted to learn more about steel. Staav is a young entreprise that makes creative metal constructions.
As I still had some student hours ahead of me I worked the whole summer with Plank in Zedelgem.
In November of 2020, Studio Yves Obyn, who designs and manufactures creative custom-made furniture, hired me for another ten months, where I could develop my skills in wood crafts.
Aug - Sep 2021
I am an inventive and creative youngster, someone who loves to make stuff. Starting from a drawing on a piece of paper, turning this from machine to reality, something that you can hold in your hand or hear, feel, touch, smell, design is how I like to spend my time .
That is why I started my own business and want to offer you my services.

My inspiration
One of my teachers at the secondary school once said:
“in span of history men designed and made great art pieces because they were jealous of women who could make something beyond the imagination”.
But we love women. I am sure you can find something in your room that has the shape of a woman. We design for love and while I am writing this on this wonderful machine I realise that love and connection conquers all.
It is all in my name: Nika = Nike = victory.
